Minun luokkatoverini valmistuvat puutarhureiksi ensi viikolla.

Reissu on varattu. :-)

My classmates are graduating as gardeners next week. I'm not. It's bittersweet – I'm happy for them of course but a little bitter for my own part. I'm not graduating because I got sick and it messed up my studies big time.

I had some hope left to be able to graduate this June still until about a month ago but then I got sick with chemical depression – honestly! - as a side-effect of a new drug I had started for the prolonged nerve pain. After weaning off the drug the depression disappeared but it was too late. I'm going back to school to finish some assignments next autumn.

I made the right call postponing the second surgery until next autumn. It took me 5 weeks to properly recover from the first surgery to remove the massive (but benign!) tumor in my pelvis in February and to have one more surgery, even if smaller, just another 4 weeks after that would have been foolish especially since I'm today still suffering of the nerve damage and pain caused by the tumor that was pressing against my spine.

Now I can have my abs complitely back in business and in good condition before they are cut again in late September. ;-) I even managed to get myself as a candidate for a new surgery procedure that is less invasive (only one vertical cut in stead of three cuts of which two would be horizontal). Will be interesting to see if the recovery will really be quicker.

Some doctors have a good sense for what is wise and what is necessary and when, and one of my docs made a perky and appropriate suggestion to also postpone the extremely unpleasant biopsy-taking (round 2 or actually round 3 since both the first two samples were insufficient for exact diagnosis) until September aswell.

I'm really not looking forward to September for obvious reasons but I wanted a relaxing summer with no recovering and no operations and I almost got it – I got the No operations part but unfortunately I'm still recovering given that the nerve damage is not permanent. If it is permanent then I am not recovering but learning to cope and live with the situation. And I'm not ready mentally for the latter option yet so I really really hope it's not that.

It's three months since the operation now. It's been really tough. It's still tough. It's one month until I'm leaving on vacation. I have plain tickets to Italy June 27th. It's my vacation, I devote it to me, to my personal well-being and healing. Not exactly sure what is waiting for me except incredible heat and some soul-searching but we'll see. Hopefully lots of good things - beauty of nature, nice people, inner peace.
